DESCRIPTION
On this demanding route, we will look out over the neighbouring region of Ribagorza, through valleys that are as close as they are different.
From La Fueva, a valley full of villages and pastures that still preserve the flavour of yesteryear, we will head southeast through the Troncedo pass, which has some very tough ramps and should be taken very calmly given what lies ahead. On the way to Graus we will pass by the Buddhist Monastery of Panillo, a picturesque temple that is well worth a stop.
From Graus we will go up the Isábena valley in a gentle ascent. We will pass by Romanesque bridges as impressive as Capella or Roda and by beautiful villages such as Roda de Isábena (1,5kms of extra ascent, but it is worth it), La Puebla de Roda or Serraduy. We will cross the fabulous Congosto de Obarra (watch out for the tunnels) and at the end we will turn off to take the ascent to Abella.
After crowning it we will find ourselves in the valley of the Ésera, which we will reach via Castejón de Sos and through which we will descend crossing another extraordinary gorge, the Congosto de Ventamillo (very narrow, watch out for traffic), to Campo, where the last ascent (Foradada) will begin, short, but with a couple of kilometres that are very steep.
Obarra in autumn is SPECTACULAR.
If we want to avoid the busy stretch between Castejón and Campo, or make the route shorter and easier, we can opt for its variant.
TERRAIN
Between Graus and Obarra the road is wide but patchy.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Avoid winter
