20 Nov ZZ-067-VAR The last Bear variant
DESCRIPTION
A fantastic route that’s sure to become a classic.
We thought we knew everything about Peña Montañesa, but how wrong we were! There are still many treasures to discover. This is one of them.
From the Collada pass, we descend through a beech forest that was home to the last bear to live in the Laspuña Valley. Every now and then, gaps open up, revealing the powerful and rocky landscape of the Cotiella massif.
Finally, we connect with the Irués forest as far as Badaín. With this alternative route, we shorten the journey but truly experience the best parts, and even more, because we pass through the marl formations of San Palay Castle near Ceresa, which are spectacular. But be aware that there are a few short, steep sections where you’ll be using a mountain bike.
TERRAIN
59% trail. Generally limestone, no mud. Cool.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Ideal when it's hot. Cool atmosphere. Also beautiful in autumn for the colors. Crossing the Garona ravine is tricky: it's best if two cyclists ride together to help each other cross.
